In Loving Memory of:

Forrest J. Boyd

July 18, 1921 - January 5, 2002

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith...2 Timothy 4:7

It is with great sadness that we report that our beloved Forrest Boyd was taken home to be with the Lord .

Forrest Boyd, God's servant, died Saturday morning at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, MD, of complications from a massive heart attack. He had been hospitalized a week earlier after suffering a mild heart attack. He was 80 years old.

Forrest served the Lord as executive news director for United News & Information, which he helped establish, until his final day, leaving a hallmark of achievements and services on news and broadcast journalism. UNI director Del Branham said, "We at UNI News greatly appreciated Forrest's invaluable contributions to this ministry, and to the industry at large. His service to the Lord was an inspiration to many, and we will miss our brother, and his leadership, deeply, as we continue the work that was so close to his heart."

Forrest was one of the most respected correspondents in the Christian community. With over 50 years of experience in broadcast journalism, Mr. Boyd had served as one of the most senior members of the White House Press Corps, and was the founder of International Media Service (IMS), Washington, D.C. He was the host of "Focus on Issues," and "Another View of the News," over the UNI News-affiliated networks and stations. Through his extensive career, he has reported for the Mutual Broadcast Network, United Press International, and Standard News Service, to name a few, as well as authored several syndicated newspaper columns and books. He has been honored for his unique journalistic endeavors by many groups and organizations including the National Religious Broadcasters. He has always been highly regarded in the halls of Capitol Hill and the White House, by presidents and lawmakers, for his responsible reporting.

Although his death was sudden and unexpected, we believe that our Lord intends UNI to continue to move forward, with the work that Forrest helped start, upholding the same level of integrity and excellence in all of our endeavors to serve you, as we serve our Lord together!

He is survived by his wife Gloria, daughter JoAnne Pierson and her husband Jay and 2 children; daughter Linda Leizer and her husband Frank and 2 children; and son Richard Boyd and his wife Amy and 2 children; and step-children Mike and Marleah Dersham and 6 children, Keith and Kathy Namy and 3 children, Karen Namy, Beth and Major Brian Riggs and 3 children, and Karl Namy.

Your prayers of encouragement and support would be welcomed, for Forrest's family and for our staff, as we mourn his loss together. We also invite you to praise and thank the Lord with us for Forrest's exemplary life of service and that he was blessed to be able to serve until the Lord called him home!

He will be deeply missed by us all, as we are reminded of the words from Matthew 25:21:

Well done, thou good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy Lord...
